When was the last time you had a meaningful dialogue with others in your community about poverty? At the Table is a welcoming event designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and foster connections. Through one-on-one and small group conversations with local community members who bring lived experience, participants will gain fresh perspectives, break down stereotypes, and celebrate the strength found in every story.

Poverty is a complex challenge, connected to obstacles such as incarceration, addiction, mental health concerns, lack of educational access, and discrimination. Beyond these challenges are people—individuals with unique stories, resilience, and wisdom.
At the Table invites community members to engage in open and supportive dialogue, exploring these issues through authentic conversations. Originating with Think Tank, Inc. and the Change Leader Alliance in Greater Dayton, Ohio, At the Table is now hosted in multiple states with partner organizations, including Friends In Deed’s Circles of Washtenaw County.
At this event, participants will take part in 20-minute one-on-one or small group conversations with local Change Leaders—community members who share their lived experiences to help inform, inspire, and improve our communities.
The goal of At the Table is simple yet powerful:
