Grant Writing Volunteer

Help our Development efforts by researching funding opportunities, preparing compelling proposals, and managing relationships with funders to secure financial support for Friends In Deed.

Commitment

At least 1 shift per week, Mon–Thu 9:30 am–2:30 pm

Overview

Grant writers identify potential funding sources from government agencies, foundations, and corporate programs. They monitor databases, track deadlines, and assess whether opportunities align with the organization’s mission and programs.

Responsibilities

work closely with Development & Communications Director to ensure proposals accurately reflect organizational goals. They may attend strategy meetings and participate in planning sessions to align proposals with organizational prioritiessubmit proposals to funders, track submission deadlines, and maintain records of applications. Grant writers also prepare progress and final reports for funders, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Who Can Get Involved

This opportunity is ideal for thoughtful, dependable, and detail-oriented adults. Clear handwriting, strong communication skills, and basic computer experience are helpful. Volunteers should also be comfortable handling financial information confidentially.

Logistics

Volunteers serve at Friends In Deed during office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A commitment of at least one regular shift per week is preferred, although some appreciation projects may be seasonal or completed as needed.
